Yes I Can Basketball FAQs

How are the teams formed?
On the first day of league we have the players go through different drills and competition to evaluate their skill level. We grade each player on their skill level and then “draft” players to insure teams are as balanced as well as possible. Equal playing time is strictly enforced.

What is your refund policy?
A 100% refund - minus a $10 administrative fee - is offered if the request is simply made before the program begins.  Once a program has started, no refund will be offered.

What if I want to coach in this league?
Great. We welcome parents that would like to coach – provided you have low blood pressure, no anger management issues, and can encourage, teach, inspire and lead in a positive way.

Why do you call the program “Yes I Can”
We realized many years ago we have a captive audience. Sure we want the kids to enjoy the game and develop basketball skills, but we also use basketball as a vehicle to share inspirational and motivating messages that all kids benefit from hearing. Guest speakers will deliver motivational / inspirational messages at our leagues and camps.

How do I find the gym?
A link describing directions and a map to the specified gym is located at the bottom of the online registration flyer.

Do you perform background checks on your staff?
Oh my yes!  To give our parents peace of mind, we use a national company called Protect Youth Sports.  They perform thorough background checks using a national database.  Our staff members are carefully screened for any kind of criminal or sex offender issues.

Are you a faith based program?
Nope...we simply sprinkle in motivational messages that people of any faith - or even people with no faith - would find as a good match for the ears of their child.

How long is my child in the gym on a typical league day?
You can plan on your son or daughter being in the gym between 1 1/2 hours or 2 hours depending on the league.  We do our skills training before each game (no scheduled practices during the school week).

This "League Of Champions" league is currently being offered for boys only – do you have plans on expanding this to girls?
Yes – we hope to offer the girls version of this league after we get this off and running!

Can my son skip the "League of Champions" workshop and simply play the league game?
Nope. We have an expression “no workshop – no jump shot” This is a required portion of this league and we feel confident the boys will soak up the positive messages. The work shop will be held in between games on Thursday evening. Boys can expect to be in the gym each league night for an hour and a half.

Is there any skills training before the Thursday night "League of Champions" games?
No – we get right into their 50 minute league games after a brief warm up.
